The Fall of Nessus

This piece was just returned to me after having show in two consecutive shows, one in Los Angeles and the next in Seattle, as part of two group shows.

The Seattle Show was themed around mythology, and the first idea that popped into my head was the abduction of Hercules' wife Dejanira by the centaur, Nessus. The tale has been covered by a number of painters of the past, but I felt there was a dynamism missing from some of these earlier depictions.  So I decided to take a stab at it, and I'm proud to say that this was the result.

Possibly my best forearm...

The Hive Gallery 7 Year Anniversary: Best of the Hive

Tomorrow night, I'll be a part of The Hive Gallery 7 Year Anniversary with my latest painting.  I'll be hanging out at the opening for at least a solid chunk of the night.  (Then I might have to slip over to the Titmouse show in Alhambra where several of my friends will be showing...).

Announcement: Hive Gallery...Saturday, September 4th.

According to the above, yours truly is a featured artist at the September show at the Hive gallery. The card contains all the details one might need to attend such a gala event. I'll be standing around looking like someone who stands around at art shows with a sandwich in one hand and a Cuba Libre in the other (I'm not ruling out a Tequila Sunrise). If you can make it out, if patronizing the arts is your thing, if you're more than a meter in any dimension, then by all means come on out to the show!

June 2009 Group Show at the Hive Gallery...

For those who were unable to attend, this was the piece I'm showing as part of the group show currently on at the Hive (www.hivegallery.com). This is my second month at the Hive, and it's been quite fun to get to show there. If you haven't been, I recommend coming out for the openings...there's a whole lot of art, some live music, drinks, and general socializing.

AN ARTSY ANNOUNCEMENT
